The Best Time to Take Pictures at Superstition Mountains
The Superstition Mountains are located within Lost Dutchman State Park in Arizona – about 40 miles east of Phoenix. In the Spring, wildflowers bloom and the weather is ideal for hiking.
At the right time these mountains light up and turn vibrantly yellow and orange. For those wanting to take photos with the Superstition Mountains in the background, we want to share the best time to do so.
While slow traveling Arizona, Jon and I got to visit Lost Dutchman State Park (along with Goldfield Ghost Town) in less than 24 hours so we needed to make sure we were getting pictures in the best lighting possible.
Lighting at Superstition Mountains
Sunrise
If you come at sunrise the sun will be hidden behind the mountains and create a tough backlight.
Daytime
If you come during the day the lighting will be too harsh – causing tough shadows and losing the golden colors that come at sunset.
At Superstition Mountains there is only one time when the lighting will work – sunset.
